McDonnell Douglas was formed by the merger of McDonnell Aircraft and the Douglas Aircraft Company in 1967. It was one of the biggest manufacturers worldwide headquatered in Lambert–St. Louis International Airport near St. Louis, Missouri, which became part of Boeing in 1997. The company has delivered 3,485 commercial airliners to airlines all over the world. McDonnell Douglas was also manufacturing military aircraft, like the F-15 or the F-18, which still are active for U.S Air Force.
