Every year politicians from 20 countries are meeting up at one place to discuss the future. It is a logistical masterwork to find and prepare a city to host this “G20 Summit” and Hamburg was this years city. After many people were argueing, that having these summits in the middle of nowwhere would seem like the talks would be secret and that politics isnt for the citzens, it was decided to have the summit in a big city. This decision lead to a extreme problems of securing the city and getting everything ready. Many citizens of Hamburg could not get to work or live an everyday life, due to blockades for moving the politicians from A to B.
For me, as a planespotter, this event was amazing though, as i finally had the chance to get many rare aircraft in the perfect conditions! See the photos below.
That`s it about the planes… I want to leave something here though.
I was in Hamburg on a students trip with a total of 20 students and 2 teachers. If you have seen any news on TV or read a news-magazine, while or shortly after the summit was taking place, you probably know what was going on there… I`m not going to repeat what difficulties we had, how problematic is was to leave the city, but i want to thank all police men, that were on duty to make Hamburg a “safe” place. While speaking to many officers, i met poeple from austria, bavaria, berlin, stuttgart and basically all over germany, coming to Hamburg for a few days, just to protect. While they get a lot of critics for not being hard enough on the protestors they still made a great job and i cannot sue them for anything, as I probably would not be able to do a better job.
Thank you and my full respect to all officers and especially to a friend in the helicopter, who helped us to get around all road-rage in the city.
Now lets talk aviation!!
